Title: VP, Head of North AmericaÂ Sales

The Location: Houston/New York

The role:Â As theÂ VP, Head of North AmericaÂ SalesÂ youÂ will lead a team of experienced sales, relationship managers and commercial specialists and will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.â€¯Â This position will help Energy strengthen our brand presence with key customers across the Americas.Â The individual will work closely with the team to develop an effective transformation plan including sales strategy and collaborate across functions to achieve short-term to long-termÂ objectivesÂ which include enhancing customer experience,Â attainingÂ and exceeding financial andÂ synergyÂ targets and guiding and motivating the sales team toÂ optimalÂ performance.â€¯We want to stay relevant to the markets we serve, transformingÂ the business in line with tomorrowâ€™s market needs is an important part of the mission.Â Â

The Team: The team is composed of sales professionals across the United States and Canada. The business has a collaborative, and performance-driven atmosphere with an entrepreneurial spirit. As a Sr. Commercial Leader, you will be part of the Global Commercial Leadership team and supported by colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experience.Â

Responsibilities:â€¯Â

Working within one of the world's foremost commodity data, news & analytics providers, you will lead a team of sales professionals to exceed the assigned net-sales goals, customer experience metrics, and other tactical and strategicÂ objectives.Â
Develop and execute in-depth account-based sales strategy which should include discovering needs, diagnosing customer problems, presenting solutions, renewing subscription agreements, andÂ expandingÂ newÂ business,Â Â
Connect with, pitchÂ toÂ and engage with senior customer counterparts, tell theÂ S&PÂ Global Energy story.Â BasicallyÂ setÂ expectationÂ onÂ thÂ outbound side of work needed, leading from the front when needed.Â
Proactively engage and build relationships with senior client stakeholders by presenting the S&P Global Energy value proposition, leading outbound outreach efforts, and setting a high standard for customer engagement through direct involvement when necessary.Â
Work closely withÂ EnergyÂ marketing teams and our third-party channel partners to support our customers and develop growth opportunities.â€¯Â
Ensure the teamÂ maintainsÂ and improves customer satisfaction measured byÂ Energyâ€™sÂ Net Promoter Score (NPS) and positive anecdotal feedback from clients. Develop and implement customer retention strategiesÂ to minimize downgradesâ€™ risks and maximize up-sell and cross-sell opportunities.Â
Ensure close collaboration with internal teams, including Business Lines, Product Management,Â Customer Experience,Â Marketing, and Technology, to maximize revenue growth and external channel partners to promote and grow our revenue.Â
Manage and drive the creation and assignment of sales goals, business retention goals, compensation plans, and travel expense budgets for team members in your group.Â
Establish best practices implementing our salesÂ methodologyÂ and applying sound judgement and discipline when forecasting and planning.Â
Providing managerial direction, coaching, and theÂ additionalÂ sales skills and tools the team will need to achieve set targets. Ensuring the team is kept well-informed of key trends, responding to client and market demands with relevant conversations, engagements,Â productsÂ and services.Â
Develop andÂ maintainÂ a united and world-class team that is constantly growing, highlyÂ engagedâ€¯ asÂ measured byÂ Energyâ€™ VIBE survey (Voice, Insights, Belonging, and Expectations) andÂ demonstratingÂ behaviors which are aligned toÂ Energyâ€™ and Commercial Culture values.Â
Serve as a Regional leader providing direction,Â coachingÂ and advocacy forÂ AmericasÂ Region.Â

What We're Looking For:â€¯ We are looking for a high-performing and transformational sales Leader to help usÂ exceedÂ our revenue growth targets by focusing on putting the customer at the center of everything we do, understanding customer needs and keeping our company competitive and innovative. This role will be a team player with an essential role in the Commercial Leadership team,Â leadÂ the team through change management, coaching ability, andÂ driveÂ to the table. â€¯Experience in and/or strong knowledgeÂ of the commodity, oil & gas, energy, power, or related industries is preferred along with a proven sales record and ability to lead sales teams, proven experience in developing and implementing a commercial blueprint to drive significant growth in North America market, and own people-first soft management skills.Â

Basic Qualifications:Â

ExtensiveÂ experience in sales roles with at least ten years managing sales into the energy, financial, or business-to-business markets, including P&L or similarÂ financial responsibility. MustÂ demonstrateÂ achievementÂ of regularly exceeding company sales/financial goals.Â
Strong consultative sales and negotiation skills experience,Â possessÂ high integrity, and is proficient in all phases of the selling cycle from need creation, proposal preparation, negotiation to deal closure.Â Â
Bachelorâ€™s degree in Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and ability to articulate complex product information to sophisticated prospects and customers.Â AbilityÂ to confidently speak to our clients, including C-levelÂ is critical.Â
Strong leadership capabilities with experience in team development and mentoring.â€¯Â Â
Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to drive business results.â€¯Â Â
Demonstrated forecasting and pipeline management capabilities inÂ aÂ CRM environmentÂ required.Â Competent with systems (Salesforce/ Equivalent CRM, MS Tools,)Â

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $176,000 to $360,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
