Position Summary
The Offshore Communications Specialist will support the onshore and offshore projects and services for internal and external Oceaneering customers.
Work Location and Travel
- Must be able to work remotely for prolonged periods of time to ensure successful project completion.
- Ability to travel to onshore/offshore domestic and international project sites up to 80% of the time, sometimes on last minute notice.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Configuring, testing, installing, troubleshooting of network equipment such as Cisco routers/switches and radio equipment in coordination with project, engineering and customer teams
- Configure, test and troubleshoot various video solutions using h.264 and h.265
- Provide valuable input for project planning activities
- Lead onsite project teams
- Update and maintain installation documents and as builds
- Installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting communication equipment including satellite modems, transceivers, BUC's, LNB's, Stabilized antennas (SeaTel, Orbit, Intellian), and out of band management.
- Complete testing and commissioning procedures and paperwork to ensure system meets operational requirements.
- Ability to travel to onshore/offshore domestic and International project sites up to 80% of the time, sometimes on last minute notice.
- Participate in on-call rotation for support.
- Must be able to work remotely for prolonged periods of time to ensure successful project completion.
- Other assigned work as and when required to support operations and projects.
- Serve as onsite PM as required
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of working basic network setup and troubleshooting.
- Minimum of 5 years working in harsh environment such as offshore rigs, refineries and other remote locations.
- Requires a CCNA certification.
- Minimum of 5 years' of practical experience working with WAN and LAN technologies, as a Field Technician or Network Engineer.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with offshore and international projects.
DESIRED
- Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, LAN, and WAN
- Advanced understanding of video streaming technologies (h.264 and h.265)
- Experience working with VSAT or RF

Additional Information
Working Conditions
This position will require both office work and offshore work. Domestic and international travel up to 80% in remote locations onshore and offshore.
