Facilities Engineer
Chord EnergyPosition Summary
The Facilities Engineer will participate in the development, planning, engineering and operations of Chord Energy midstream and upstream facility assets. Assets include but are not limited to saltwater disposals (SWDs), gathering systems (oil, produced water, gas, & fresh water), gas plants, oil conditioners and central delivery points. The position requires an operations background and understanding of the design, construction, and operation of facility assets. This position located in downtown Houston, TX and requires travel to operations areas. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
Manage project planning, execution and review through all phases from approval, engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup to support development, optimization, and compliance.
Manage technical scope of projects to ensure Chord Energy complies with government and local regulations as well as industry standards
Develop hydraulic models and process simulations in support of operations, project engineering, and commercial development
Prepare cost estimates for a variety of projects from scoping to AFE level and perform wholistic project lookbacks after completion
Aid in troubleshooting of day-to-day operational issues with any surface equipment at the tank battery or Chord-owned midstream facility
Collaborate with a variety of entities including Marketing, Operations, Land, Legal, Regulatory and Accounting along with external entities such as contractors, equipment providers, government agencies, regulatory bodies, landowners, and other producers
Generate MOC documentation and act as the engineering reviewer/approver for technical MOCs
Lead and/or participate in PHA’s, Risk Assessments and Incident Investigations
Develop and/or advise on Facility SOP’s and design best practices
Contribute to safety leadership on the Facilities Team
Support and maintain Project KPIs and reporting
Manage contract engineering services

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
3 years of Oil and Gas experience, preferably in Upstream and/or Midstream Facilities
Capable of working independently on small to mid-sized projects and technical assignments
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills and the ability to work with internal and external contacts
Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
Ability to meet deadlines
Efficient in Microsoft 365 and PipeSIM
Strong economic skills

Preferred Qualifications
5 years of Oil and Gas experience in multiple disciplines
Operations experience in the Bakken area
Saltwater, Fresh Water, Crude Oil and Natural Gas pipeline operations and engineering experience
Central Processing Facilities, Oil Conditioner and Gas Plant experience
Process Modeling (ProMax or HYSYS) and Pipeline Toolbox experience
Work Environment
Combination of office and field work
20–40% travel to field locations
Ability to work in active construction environments
