Reporting in-person to the Houston office OR remote. ADROIT provides alternative student transportation through our network of service providers. The Director of Business Development is a senior, results-driven leader responsible for accelerating ADROIT revenue growth through new client acquisition, market expansion, renewals, and organic growth
initiatives. This is a playercoach role requiring hands-on selling while building and scaling a high-performing team. We’re looking for a leader who is restless about growth, competitive in the market, and uncomfortable with missed opportunities. This role is expected to personally drive and close significant new business, build scalable sales pipelines, and partner closely with Operations to ensure growth is profitable, operationally sound, and sustainable. This position is designed as a feeder role to Vice President of Business Development, with advancement tied directly to measurable growth outcomes,
leadership effectiveness, and execution excellence.

What You’ll Do


Build the Sales Engine

  • Establish disciplined sales processes, forecasting, and pipeline hygiene
  • Lead, coach, and hold a high-performing sales and marketing team accountable
  • Recruit and develop talent; reset performance when needed


Personal Sales Goals

  • Drive significant revenue growth through new client acquisition, renewals, and expansion
  • Build, manage, and personally close a strong, predictable sales pipeline
  • Identify and execute market and geographic expansion opportunities


Win & Retain Clients and Commercial Partners

  • Build senior partnerships with public-sector, enterprise, and strategic clients
  • Drive client discovery and create solutions that match operations and margin goals
  • Present ADROIT with confidence, clarity, and professionalism
  • Build relationships with pricing cooperatives, strategic partners, and clients


Execute with Operations

  • Partner closely with Operations to ensure growth is scalable, profitable, and service-ready
  • Ensure smooth handoff from sale to delivery and long-term client success


Develop Growth Strategy

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with company objectives and market opportunities. This includes:
  • Conducting in-depth market analysis to identify growth segments, emerging trends, and competitive dynamics
  • Setting clear, measurable targets for pipeline generation, revenue growth, and client acquisition across public sector, enterprise, and strategic accounts
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including Marketing, Operations, and Product—to ensure sales initiatives are integrated and scalable
  • Establishing sales processes, forecasting methodologies, and performance metrics to drive accountability and execution discipline
  • Monitoring strategy effectiveness, adapting tactics based on results, and reporting progress to executive leadership

What Success Looks Like
This role is expected to progress to VP of Business Development based on:

  • Achievement of net annual revenue growth targets of $5M+
  • Establishment of a data-driven sales pipeline with a minimum value six times the revenue target
  • Demonstration of disciplined forecast accuracy and effective execution
  • Capability to develop and lead a scalable, accountable sales organization that consistently surpasses production metrics
  • Fosters strong collaboration with Operations to enhance client retention outcomes

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of progressive business development or sales leadership experience
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • Proven ability to drive material revenue growth in complex, service-based or regulated environments
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, education, healthcare, or similar sectors preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration or equivalent or equivalent experience
