Data Analyst, Value-Based Care

Aarista Technologies

Data Analyst, (Value-Based Care - must have)

  • Location Burnaby, BC or Houston, TX (on-site)
  • Employment type Full-time

The Data Analyst, Value-Based Care turns Aarista's clinical, claims and attribution data into the reporting that our value-based care and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) programs run on. You will track quality, cost and utilization performance, support CMS and payer reporting, and surface the opportunities that improve shared savings and patient outcomes. Because our data includes protected health information (PHI), every part of the role runs inside our HIPAA and SOC 2 controls.

Key responsibilities

ACO and value-based care performance reporting

  • Build and maintain dashboards that track ACO and value-based contract performance: quality scores, total cost of care, utilization and shared savings or loss.
  • Produce recurring performance reports for leadership, clinical teams, participating providers and payer partners.
  • Process and analyze CMS data feeds, including Claim and Claim Line Feed (CCLF) files and assignment/attribution reports, plus commercial and Medicare Advantage payer files.
  • Reconcile internal results against CMS and payer reports and explain variances.

Quality measures

  • Track and report quality measures for programs such as the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) and ACO REACH, including eCQMs and MIPS/APP measures.
  • Identify care gaps (e.g., missed screenings, annual wellness visits, chronic condition management) and deliver actionable gap lists to clinical teams.
  • Support annual quality reporting submissions with accurate, auditable data.

Attribution, risk and cost analysis

  • Analyze beneficiary attribution, panel changes and leakage to out-of-network providers.
  • Monitor risk adjustment and HCC coding completeness, and flag documentation gaps.
  • Analyze cost and utilization drivers such as ED visits, inpatient admissions, readmissions and post-acute and skilled nursing stays.
  • Build benchmark and financial projections to estimate shared savings performance.

Data quality and governance

  • Write and maintain SQL queries, views and data models that combine claims, EMR and attribution data.
  • Validate data accuracy, investigate discrepancies and work with Engineering to fix root causes.
  • Maintain a data dictionary and document measure logic, data sources and lineage in SharePoint.

Security and compliance

  • Handle PHI and CMS beneficiary data under the HIPAA minimum-necessary standard and CMS

Data Use Agreement (DUA) terms.

  • Follow Aarista's SOC 2 access-control and change-management procedures for data and reports.
  • Support audits and program compliance reviews with accurate, reproducible data pulls.

Stakeholder support

  • Partner with clinical, care management and operations teams to turn findings into interventions.
  • Take requests through a defined intake process and set clear priorities and timelines.
  • Train users on self-service reports and dashboards.

Required qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in a data analyst or business intelligence role, ideally in healthcare.
  • Working knowledge of value-based care concepts: attribution, quality measures, risk adjustment and shared savings.
  • Experience working with healthcare claims data (professional and institutional) and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
  • Strong SQL skills, including joins, window functions and query performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with a BI tool such as Power BI, Tableau or Looker.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups and modeling.
  • Experience working with PHI or other regulated data and following access-control procedures.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining findings to clinical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, statistics, health informatics, public health or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Direct experience supporting an ACO in MSSP, ACO REACH or a commercial or Medicare Advantage value-based contract.
  • Experience with CMS CCLF files, beneficiary assignment reports and quality reporting submissions.
  • Familiarity with HCC risk adjustment models, HEDIS, eCQMs and MIPS/APP reporting.
  • Familiarity with skilled nursing or post-acute care settings.
  • Python or R for data cleaning, automation and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with FHIR or HL7 data structures.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses and modern data tools (e.g., Databricks, Microsoft Fabric).
